Rob Birmingham: Bio

An independent musician/singer-songwriter, Rob is currently promoting his first solo CD project, "Outside July". A brief musical history: For several years, Rob played both guitar and bass in several Southern Ontario bands with varying degrees of success, most notably in the mid-90's as one of the founding members of Sacred Rain, with whom they released an independent CD, "Angel Skies", to moderate local success. A few televised peformance spots (CITY-TV's Breakfast Television, CHCH-TV News At Noon), TV performance videos (Up And Coming - CKVR) and select opening gigs later, Rob departed the band in the late 1990s. After a self-imposed musical hiatus, Rob began to partake in one-off local shows, sharing stages with musical friends new and old. Some venues were played with a full electric lineup, others were solo and duo acoustic venues, yet these initial shows reinforced what Rob already knew: He missed the live shows, missed the songwriting, and missed playing music as a regular part of his life. Which brings Rob full-circle to the current release of the full-length "Outside July" CD , a project he co-produced alongside former Sacred Rain bandmate Todd Pyper, that contains 13 of Rob's favourite original songs. He enlisted the assistance of some wonderfully-talented musical friends he has met along the musical road, and the studio results are a testament to Rob's talent as a songwriter and as a musician. In addition to Rob's solo studio work, he continues to play in both solo acoustic and duo acoustic formats (alongside former bandmate John Restas), as well as retaining his status as one of the founding members of The JRT Band, a 4-piece rocking covers band dedicated to playing upbeat party music from six decades of popular music, from Elvis Presley to Elvis Costello. The JRT Band, with three vocalists supporting strong musicianship, focuses on getting your toes tapping to all of your favourite classic rock tunes at clubs, parties, weddings, festivals and corporate events.
